Work Experience
Visual Merchandising & Interior Design Department IKEA
During my work experience in IKEA Sheffield, I not only accompanied and shadowed the design planning for many shop floor displays, but I also took part in a creative brief set for myself. Learning about artistic considerations concerning colour, branding, style and message, my job was to create a display whilst adhering to the practice manuals.

01
Eating Area
I was assigned to create a sense of new healthy living, sustainability and nature in my design. Whilst making sure I use replication, unity, colour and texture as key design points that IKEA follow in all of their displays.
02
Rug & Textiles area
In this creation I was assigned to brighten up and energise a dark space to showcase the many intricate designed fabrics they have to offer. A strong eye for colour combinations and what design styles help draw attention to a product is a key skill I developed. It has allowed me to creatively consider style choices surrounding my business designs and also customers work. This is a skill I would be interested to use in my career.

Here is an example of me creating initial drawings that came to life in project 1. I was able to promote products that IKEA wanted as their selling point, whilst drawing the customer's attention to the planning of pattern, colour and branding co-ordination.
